New Delhi: The Shehenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan, has lashed out against cynics on Twitter after receiving flak for tweeting about donating money to a dead cop’s family. Constable Subhash Tomar, who expired on December 25, had been injured at the clashes that took place during the Delhi protests following the gang rape of a 23 year old physiotherapy student in a moving bus.
Amitabh was given the Award for Eminence by the South Indian Educational Society, and the accolade included a check for Rs. 2,50,000.
The legendary actor put in a series of tweets from his @SrBachchan twitter handle:
“Many do not know that a police constable was critically injured in the protests that turned violent day before .. he succumbed!!”
“Constable carrying out orders in the line of duty ... was only earning member of his large family ..!!”
“I have donated my cash Award money to his family!! They are distraught and of lesser means.. prayers!!!”
He rounded off the tweets with a prayer for the girl who was raped in the capital, an incident which sparked off these protests, hoping she recovers from her injuries and trauma.
He was then subjected to some completely unwarranted hate-tweets for publicising his act of charity. A miffed former-angry-young-man then lashed out at such cynical people through another few tweets:
“Donate and do not talk about it, they say you do nothing for society ... do and talk about it, they say you seek publicity!”
“To those poor ignorants who think and express thus ... STFU !!!”
And he rounded off by explaining himself: “STFU : Saner Thoughts Fail U ... !!! Just in case you thought it was something else..... !!!!!!”
We’re with you on this Mr Bachchan, haters will always be haters!
