Amitabh Bachchan remembers Manna Dey

The Indian film fraternity and classic music lovers suffered a huge loss as Manna Dey, also popularly addressed as Manna Dey transcended to heaven.

Mumbai: The nation was left in a state of shock with the passing away of Manna Dey, the voice behind a number of melodious songs that touched the soul. The last rites of the legendary musician were performed at the Hebbal crematorium in Banglore, Thursday with a handful of well-wishers and fans paying him their last respects. The Indian film fraternity and classic music lovers suffered a huge loss as Manna Dey, also popularly addressed as Manna Dey transcended to heaven. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is one such personality who is yet to come to terms with the death of the musical genius. The veteran took to Twitter to write, “Busy day .. not without remembering Manna Dey with minute silence on set..voice gone..winds of sonorous lilting words left behind ! (sic).” The actor tweeted a line in Hindi with profound meaning which meant- People go away, times change, the voice remains alive...becomes eternal. Earlier in the day on Thursday, soon after news of Dey’s death made headlines, Big B had paid his condolences on Twitter. He tweeted, “Manna Dey, stalwart of the music world, passes away. Flooded with memories and his songs. In particular his rendition of Madhushala. Manna Dey RIP .. !! Prayers and condolences to loved ones and family ! Strange how we connect events of our life with his songs ! At work but shall keep a minutes silence, in Manna Dey`s memory on set before we start .. !! (sic).”
