Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, whose ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ stint has been the talk of every season ever since the veteran began gracing the hotseat, is facing the ire of the Income Tax department – thanks to the same show. In 2002-2003, by staging the show, Bachchan owed a whopping amount of 1.66 crores as income tax, claims the IT department.
The Supreme Court of India has issued Amitabh Bachchan a notice on a lawsuit filed by tax authorities, challenging a Bombay High Court judgement passed last year, reports DNA.
‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, that hit the TV screens back in 2000, has been graced by Amitabh Bachchan on five of its six seasons. One season of the show had been hosted by Shah Rukh Khan.
