London: Pop diva Amy Winehouse has claimed that she hasn`t used drugs in almost three years.
The Grammy winner`s addiction to cocaine and heroin had put her in hospital in 2007.
But the singer insists she has now kicked the habit that threatened to destroy her career and life.
"I`m much healthier now. I used to use drugs and I haven`t used drugs in almost three years. It`s not a hard thing," The Sun quoted Winehouse as saying.
"I literally woke up one day and was like, `I don`t want to do this any more`."
Winehouse started abusing drugs in 2005 and went on to suffer mental health scares, self-harming and run-ins with the law.
She cancelled several shows in 2007 after overdosing on heroin, cocaine and ecstasy - admitting later: "I really thought it was over for me."
She was also captured smoking crack on video and snapped behaving maniacally on London streets.
But she attempted to turn a corner in 2008 with a detox trip to the Caribbean.
And now she says she`s finding better ways to fill her days - including designing clothes for Fred Perry.
The singer, rumoured to be back with film director Reg Traviss, has also claimed that she`s considering starting a family.
She added: "I`m of the age when you start thinking about it. Although I`m not going to be getting pregnant in the next nine months!"
