Mumbai: Actor Anupam Kher feels a novel should come up based on his film 1984 hit film `Saraansh`.
"I think a novel on `Saraansh` should come up. I think it will make a great story... As it is about the relationship between parents and their son. It will be a good story to read in novel format," Kher told reporters here during the launch of a book - `Special 26`, based on his latest film.
`Saaransh` is a 1984 drama film starred Anupam Kher, Rohini Hattangadi, Soni Razdan in lead roles. The film is about an old Maharashtrain couple who are coming to terms with the death of their only son who gets killed in New York.
The film was nominated for India`s official entry for the 1985 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Kher was only 29 when he played the role of a retired stubborn old man with aplomb.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, `Special 26`, a heist drama starring Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpai in the lead roles, garnered good response after its release on February 8.
The film is inspired by a real life daring heist dating back to the 80s in which some unknown people posing as CBI officers executed a daylight income tax raid and decamped with jewellery worth lakhs.
A novel based on the racy-thriller was launched here by Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpai and director Neeraj Pandey. The novel is written by Gabriel Khan.
"We have got great response to the film. People are watching the film again and again. I am sure even after watching the film people will love to read the novel as well. It has been well put up," Kher said.
Pandey revealed they have been toying with the idea of coming up with a book for sometime.
"We were somewhere confident about the film getting good response. We have been working on this novel for eight months or so," he said.
Meanwhile, the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has formulated a new set of rules that no violence against women should be shown on screen.
Commenting on this, Kher says, "I feel the violence against wives, daughters...Should be stopped in society... At home first. I don`t know how by stopping such things in films will impact things in reality. I think one first needs to change the attitude, stop violence in society."
