Arshad Warsi slams the Indian judiciary system
Mumbai: Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja’s seven year jail term sentenced by a court in Mumbai is sending shock waves in the film industry. While many are being indifferent to this issue, actor-comedian Arshad Warsi has voiced his opinion loud and open.
Expressing his take on the kind of treatment meted out to the convicted actor, Warsi tweeted, “Murderers, terrorist and corrupt politicians are walking free and Shiney Ahuja gets 7yrs... Judiciary should stop targeting actors so blatantly.”
However, the ‘Ishqiya’ star has said that he is not defending Shiney. He is of the opinion that Ahuja is being grilled unjustifiably only because of his celebrity status. Where as there are many corrupt and culprits roaming about freely in the country with no vigilant eyes to trap them.
“I am NOT saying he`s right but don`t forget that Kasab is still enjoying our hospitality... Do you know the no. of rapes that happen in our country on a daily basis by influential and connected people... Those cases are not even registered”, the actor added on his twitter site.
Arshad feels equality in justice should prevail and law and order shouldn’t be enforced on celebrities alone.
“My point is all criminals should be punished equally, its not fair to make an example of an actor only because it makes news...”, said the actor.
Shiney Ahuja, who starred in films like ‘Gangster’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyya’ was found guilty of raping his domestic help in June 2009.
Earlier however, the supposed rape victim had claimed in a trial court that Ahuja had not raped her.
