Bachchan parivaar files Rs 37.55 cr as annual tax return
Mumbai: Its that time of the year again when everyone is busy filing income tax returns and so is Bollywood.
Over the past years it can be recalled that some celebrities have been the highest tax payers in the country such as Akshay Kumar with Rs 18 crores, Hrithik Roshan with Rs 15.10 crores and Shah Rukh Khan with Rs 14 crores.
This year, the Bachchan family is one of the highest tax paying family of the entertainment industry. A source says, "2010-11 has been one of the most prolific years for the Bachchans. Each of them has had multiple film releases. They have also done an enviable number of commercials. So the collective earnings of the three have totalled up to an impressive amount. Hence they have ended up with these high income-tax figures.``
For the year ending March 2011, Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek and his daughter-in-law Aishwarya will collectively pay an income tax of Rs 37.55 cr! This is a huge sum for a declared annual tax and it is good to know in an industry, where more black money floats than genuine money, there are still some people who practice honesty. And the Bachchan khandaan has clearly shown the way.
