Bengal’s ‘Jamai Babu’ Amitabh Bachchan is all praise for Tagore
Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan, whose real surname is Srivastava is no doubt a Hindi bhashi but is typically Bengali as a ‘Jamai Babu’. The actor’s wife Jaya who originally hails from Bengal has influenced him great deal. And there is nothing that can stop the veteran actor from showering praise over Bengali culture.
The superstar of the millennium, who has sung a Rabindra Sangeet for Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film is a great admirer of the legendry Nobel Laureate.
Expressing his admiration for Tagore, Big B tweeted, “So this is going to bring some cheer for my Bengali fans ..did something a `jamai babu` should .. sang `Ekla Cholo` for Sujoy`s film.”
“Such a joy to be associated with the greatness and genius of Rabindranath Tagore ..what words, what lyricism, what fluidity.. honor”, Bachchan added on his twitter account.
Big B has donned a playback singers hat on several occasions but this song by Tagore is very special to him.
