Mumbai: Legendary actor Dilip Kumar may be considered by the Central Government for this year’s Bharat Ratna, reports suggest.

The 92-year old thespian, who has born as Muhammad Yousuf Khan in Peshawar, (now in Pakistan), was touted as the `ultimate method actor` by Oscar winning director Satyajit Ray.

Hindi Cinema’s eternal Prince charming, Dilip played Shahzada Salim in K. Asif`s epic historical film ‘Mughal-e-Azam’. The movie is one of the highest grossing movies in the history of Hindi Cinema. Kumar’s character `Devdas` too is hugely popular and is still emulated by many stars including superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

He holds the Guinness World Record for winning the maximum number of awards by an Indian actor, with 8 Filmfare awards for Best Actor.

Dilip Sahab was awarded with the Dada Saheb Phalke award in 1994. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan award in 1991 and the Padma Vibhushan this year for his contribution to Indian cinema.
