Birthday special: Ameesha Patel – then and now…

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel, who turns 38 today, was born on June 9, 1975 in a Gujrati family. She has a younger sibling – Ashmit Patel – who is also a Bollywood actor. An economics gold medalist from Tufts University, USA, Ameesha happens to be one of the most educated actresses in the industry. But as luck would have it, she took up acting for good and made her debut opposite heartthorb Hrithik Roshan in ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’. The film went on to achieve the success that every newcomer hopes for. Soon after, Ameesha’s acting talent got a seal of approval from the audiences and critics alike in ‘Gadar – Ek Prem Katha’ which was one of the blockbusters of the year of its release. But post that, Ameesha’s career began a downward slide as she fell short of exciting, fresh and challenging roles. However, she has not given up hope and has donned the hat of a producer now. She has partnered with friend Kunal Goomer, and is gearing up to shine on-screen in her maiden production venture ‘Desi Magic’ co-starring Zayed Khan, Randhir Kapoor, Sahil Shroff and Ravi Kishan. She is also all set for the June 21 release of ‘Shortcut Romeo’ in which she plays a negative female lead opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh.
