Bob Geldof handed honorary university degree

London: Bob Geldof has been presented with an honorary university degree for his contribution to culture.

The former Boomtown Rats star donned a traditional cap and gown when officials at the University of Kent in Canterbury gave him the Master of Arts accolade.

And Geldof was pleased to accept the degree.

"It`s great to also receive recognition from UCA for the creative work that I`ve been doing for the past 35 years. I live up the road, so to be recognized by a local university, in the region that I love, adds even greater significance for me. I wouldn`t have accepted this award if it didn`t mean anything to me," the Daily Star quoted the Live Aid organizer as saying.
