Mumbai: Tainted Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja, who was sentenced to seven year’s rigorous imprisonment after he was found guilty of raping his maid servant by a lower court, has been granted bail by the Bombay High Court. On 19th April 2011, Shiney had moved to Bombay High Court against his conviction order. Shiney Ahuja was accused of raping his domestic help at his Andheri West home June 14, 2009. He was arrested and spent 110 days in police and judicial custody in various jails before the Bombay High Court granted him bail on surety of Rs.50,000. Earlier, the 20-year-old maid of actor Shiney Ahuja who had accused him of rape last year turned hostile in the trial court and said he had not committed the crime. "The victim denied all the charges she had levelled against Ahuja. She denied having had any sexual contact with the accused," a prosecution source said. The 20-year-old girl appeared before a court on September 3, and said that she was never raped by Shiney and that she had filed the complaint against the actor at the behest of the woman who had secured her the job of a maid in Ahuja`s residence. On September 3 last year, the victim had identified Shiney in the court and said she used to work at his residence as a domestic help. But when asked about the incident, she said she was never raped. Following this, the court had declared her hostile. The police, in a 109-page chargesheet, had charged Shiney with rape and wrongfully confining the victim. Shiney, in his defence, had argued that he was falsely implicated.
