Fans and members of the film industry thronged Mehboob Studio in Mumbai to bid farewell to legendary actor Dev Anand.

Mumbai: Fans and members of the film industry thronged Mehboob Studio in Mumbai to bid farewell to legendary actor Dev Anand. The star who passed away on December 3 in London was cremated in London’s Putney Vale cemetery on 10 December. While many had wanted the star’s last rites to be held in India, the actor’s family decided to hold cremation ceremony in London itself and decided to hold a memorial service in Mumbai’s Mehboob studio. Speaking to a channel, director Shyam Benegal said, “ Dev Saab probably had the longest career in the film industry spanning over four decades. Till date he serves as a superb role model to all of us. One should celebrate his life.” Echoing Benegal’s thought, Dev Anand’s co-star from ‘Jewel Thief’, actress Vyjayanthimala said, “The best way to remember him is by celebrating his life, his cinema.” Asha Parekh said, “He was full of life and energy. He had lived his entire life with spirit.” Actress Saira Banu who had worked with Dev Saab in ‘Pyaar Mohabbat’ called him an energetic and a methodical actor. Dev Anand’s son, Suniel Anand was seen greeting the guests. Nephew, filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor was also seen interacting with people. Dev Anand’s discoveries, actresses Tina Ambani and Tabu were present at the memorial service along with Kabir Bedi, filmmaker Akbar Khan, actor Raza Murad, Dalip Tahil and Mukesh Rishi.
