Mumbai: Bharat Bandh has had its affect and how! The nation came to a stand still on Monday as the Opposition parties called for an all-India bandh or strike to protest price hike in petroleum products. Upon the otherwise buzzing Mumbai film industry as well, the bandh cast its shadow.
Bollywood bigwigs took to Twitter to voice their views on a rather successful bandh the nation has seen in the recent time.
Here’s what they said:
Amitabh Bachchan: God!! The silence is just unbelievable! Not a sound here in Juhu at noon! Even the rain has stopped!. Bharat Bandh, insaan band, saans band, aasha band, niraasha band, ...!! Mumbai is so silent this morning ! Eerie !!
Anupam Kher: Bandh affects the common working people the most and yet this is only noise they can make that reaches the deaf ears. Prices must come down. When hearts fail, docs give electric shock. Similarly, when government fails, it should be given a shock.
Madhur Bhandarkar: All our politicians are so camera friendly... in front of media better then some of our actors also!!! ." Silence on the road!!! Don`t remember also when was the last bharat bandh was???
Priyanka Chopra: Whatever the reason guys!! It`s awesome to just be chilling at home.. Aaaah!! Been too long since I did this...Months in fact.
Mahesh Bhatt: Deserted Mumbai brings back memories of the bygone days. Nothing has changed! Thought for UPA: You never conquer a mountain. You stand on the summit a few moments; then the wind blows your footprints away. All shootings have been cancelled.
Asha Bhosale: Bandh was a democratic way of showing anger against government .It’s 1.30 am here in San Francisco and my eyes are getting BANDH ! Goodnight.
Neli Nitin Mukesh: Bandh is harrowing.
