Bollywood mourns legend’s death

Mumbai: Bollywood is grief-stricken after the demise of veteran actor Shammi Kapoor who passed away at a city hospital today morning.


"Sad to hear the demise of Shammiji, the YAHOO of Indian Cinema. Ur charmful exuberance & full of life style will forever be missed by all of us, RIP" filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said on a micro-blogging site of twitter.

"Tremendous entertainer. Also one of the first champions of internet in India. RIP Shammi Kapoor. Shammi ji no one can take the place of all the "Yahoos" of our Indian
hearts who loved u .. u will be missed deeply by us all," tweeted actress Celina Jaitly.

"One of finest and strongest men I knew...we will truly miss you shammi uncle....RIP....," filmmaker Karan Johar said.

"Another legend passes away..Shammiji Kapoor..such a jovial and positive person..had the good fortune of interacting with him..rest in peace," actor Aftab Shivdasani tweeted.

"Deeply saddened at Shammi Kapoor`s passing away. So full of life and energy on screen now no more, we loved you so much..may you rest in peace," actress Tisca Chopra said.

"Mr. Shammi Kapoor, RIP. You danced like nobody was watching," music director-singer Vishal Dadlani tweeted. "RIP SHAMMI KAPOOR- the most stylish actor ever- we love you n we will miss you," actor Riteish Deshmukh said.

"What a legacy of great music was associated with Shammiji," singer Shreya Ghoshal said.

"RIP Shammi Ji. . End of a legend," posted actor R Madhavan.

Actor Vinay Pathak tweeted, “Hum pyar ke toofano mein ghire hain,hum pyar karenge! The original Ceasar of flamboyance, romance, n boisterous love is no mo.RIP SHAMMI JI!”

Young actresses like Minnisha Lamba and Shruti Haasan also expressed their condolences on Shammiji’s death. Minnisha tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the news of @shamsheraj sir`s demise, No1 in d fraternity can ever fit in your shoes. You will be missed, sir. R.I.P”.

Interestingly, Shammi Kapoor was a self confessed techno geek. He described himself as a computer buff. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap tweeted, “All indian netizens should mourn today.Pioneer of internet&the first president of internet soc of ind in the 80`s Shammi Kapoor passed away.”
