New Delhi: Tributes poured in for veteran actress Zohra Sehgal, who died on Thursday here, from all quarters. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Hindi film legend Amitabh Bachchan, everyone took to social media and expressed their sadness at Sehgal`s passing away. They also joined in to pay tributes to her vivacious personality and her never-say-die attitude. While the PM said that he was `saddened on her demise`, Bachchan said that Sehgal was an `immensely loveable co-star`. There were others too like filmmaker Karan Johar and actress Priyanka Chopra who hailed her spirit and life. Dia Mirza and Madhur Bhandarkar had this to say - A look at some of others who too posted their condolences for Sehgal on the micro-blogging site Twitter: Zohra Sehgal, who essayed character roles with aplomb in Bollywood films in a career spanning over seven decades in both theatre and cinema, died at the age of 102. A Padma Vibhushan awardee, Sehgal breathed her last at a Delhi hospital around 4:30 pm today. "She was admitted yesterday and diagnosed with pneumonia. A heart patient, she suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away," a senior doctor at the hospital said. "She was unwell for last three-four days," daughter Kiran told PTI. Sehgal would be cremated tomorrow at 11 am at the Lodhi Road crematorium. The news was broken in the night by historian Irfan Habib who tweeted, "Just confirmed that Zohra Aapa is no more..." Sehgal, a vivacious personality, started her career as a dancer with Uday Shankar in 1935. She had appeared in many Bollywood films as a character actor as well as in English language films besides television series and plays. With PTI inputs
