Charles Taylor`s lawyers request Naomi Campbell testimony postponement

Lawyers of former Liberian President Charles Taylor have filed a court motion requesting to postpone British supermodel Naomi Campbell’s testimony for the war crimes trial.

London: Lawyers of former Liberian President Charles Taylor have filed a court motion requesting to postpone British supermodel Naomi Campbell’s testimony for the war crimes trial. Campbell will bear evidence in a hearing at The Hague in the Netherlands on August 5 to answer allegations that she accepted a blood diamond from Taylor as a gift at a party in 1997.
Taylor is on trial over alleged atrocities committed during Sierra Leone`s 1991-2002 civil war. His attorneys have requested for a delay in Campbell’s testimony to give them more time to prepare their cross-examination. The defence team claims that prosecutors have failed to disclose exactly what Campbell is expected to say, while the prosecution alleges Campbell, who is being forced to appear in court under a subpoena, has been refusing to talk to them, reports the Daily Star. The decision regarding the request is expected on August 4. ANI
