Colin Firth and Hugh Grant raise funds for charity
London: Hollywood actor Colin Firth and Hugh Grant have raised USD 88,000 for charity by reigniting their on-screen rivalry in a real life battle, offering bids for an appearance in the next `Bridget Jones` movie.
The two actors, who battle to obtain Jones`s affection, which is played by actress Renee Zellweger, in the hit movie, put their rivalry to the best use at the fund raising event in London, reported a website.
The `Notting Hill` star put in an opening bid of USD 16,000 for a walk-on part in the third movie.
Firth, who bagged this year`s Oscars for the Best Actor, then started to out-run his rival by bidding higher until an unknown bidder won the lot at USD 88,000.
The amount collected will head towards broadcaster Mariella Frostrup`s `Gender Rights and Equality Action Trust (Great)` initiative, which aims to create greater gender equality in developing countries.
