Colin Firth, Hugh Grant among top 10 inspirational figures in their 50s

London: Colin Firth and Hugh Grant have been named in the top 10 most inspirational figures in their 50s.

According to a poll conducted by, an online magazine offering deals and discounts to the over-50s, Firth and Grant, both 50 were placed second and third in the list.

“Being 50 isn’t about resting on your laurels, in our eyes,” the Daily Star quoted Tim Willis, editor of the online magazine as saying.

“It’s about moving forward, trying something new, adding to your talents and knowledge base,” he added.

The 56-year-old inventor of worldwide web, Tim Berners-Lee, won the first place, with designer turned film-maker Tom Ford, who’ll turn 50 this month, coming in fourth and 53-year-old musician Nick Cave finishing fifth in the all-male top five.

‘Sex And The City’ actress Kim Cattrall, 54, artist Grayson Perry, 51, actress Tilda Swinton, 50, journalist Tina Brown, 57 and designer Cath Kidston, 52, made up the list of the top 10.
