Cruz gets 2,436th star on Walk of Fame
London: Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz was honoured with the 2,436th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 36-year-old actress who is awaiting the release of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" looked svelte in purple lace fitted dress at the event, reports dailymail.co.uk.
She was accompanied by her husband, Spanish actor Javier Bardem, and close friend and co-star Johnny Depp. She thanked Depp for helping her learn English when she first moved to Los Angeles.
She said: "I want to thank the man with the hat. Let me tell you about the man with the hat. I came to Los Angeles for the first time in 1994, I spoke no English. I only knew how to say two things, two sentences. One was, `How are you?`, the other one was, `I want to work with Johnny Depp`.
"In the last 10 years I have worked with him twice and that has improved my English, so now I know how to say, `I want to work with Johnny Depp again!` Thank you Johnny for your friendship, your friendship, your talent, you are such an inspiration to so many of us, always."
Cruz hails from near Madrid, Spain, and made her acting debut on Spanish television when she was 16. She made her feature film debut in 1992 in "Jamon, Jamon".
She won a best supporting actress Oscar in 2009 for her performance in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."
The actress gave birth to a baby boy, her first child, in January.
