Dannii Minogue reveals work commitments `took a toll` on relationship

Washington: Singer Dannii Minogue has revealed that her work commitments “took a toll” on her personal life and she struggled to be “a gorgeous, happy girlfriend” after the birth of her son last year.

The Aussie singer who stepped down from the British panel of the reality show The X-Factor admitted that managing motherhood, health problems and her TV work put a huge strain on her relationship with ex boyfriend Kris Smith.

“I have been sick. After Ethan was born I felt really tired and I didn’t get better, I got worse. If I told anyone they’d say I was working too hard, Contactmusic quoted her as telling the Fabulous magazine.

“I’d had a baby, I was travelling back and forth from Australia to the U.K. doing The X Factor. I was jet-lagged, on the go non-stop, all the things that make you tired. I just kept thinking I`d feel better but I was losing weight, permanently exhausted. I didn`t feel like myself.”

“All I will say is it took a toll on every aspect of my life. I couldn``t be a gorgeous, happy girlfriend. I was anxious.”

Minogue gave the credit of her rebalanced life to her decision to cut down on work commitments after she was diagnosed with an under-active thyroid.

“I have to see what happened to me as a blessing. My body forced me to rebalance my life. I just couldn’t do it. I needed to look after myself and my son, be at home with Kris. We needed to get through it together, which is what we have done,” she added.
