David Arquette snubs nervous breakdown claims

Los Angeles: Hollywood actor David Arquette has dismissed reports that his split from wife Courteney Cox has prompted a nervous breakdown, insisting it was a `joke`.

The celebrity couple decided to take a break after 11 years of marriage. The former `Friends` star has kept a dignified silence since the trial separation began in October but Arquette went public to disclose that lack of sex and his immaturity was the main reason.

"I believe so," Arquette replied on a radio show when asked if he is having a nervous breakdown.

The 39-year-old actor insisted that he had been drinking heavily since his separation and recently embarrassed himself at a Hollywood party after mistaking actor Tom Cruise for someone else.

However, despite his own claims, Arquette has taken to his Twitter page to clarify that he is not experiencing a meltdown.

"It is being reported that I`m having a Nervous Breakdown. I assure you am not. This stemmed from a joke I made. I always speak my mind and I really don`t care what people that don`t know me may say. I`m a good person with a huge heart. I thank those that have been on my side during this rough time," he tweeted.
