Dennis Hopper’s wife plans to battle for a share of his riches
New York: Late actor Dennis Hopper’s wife has plans of fighting for a share of his estate in court even though he had tried desperately to divorce her before he died.
Hopper, who had died due to complications from prostate cancer, had signed a prenuptial agreement with his wife Victoria Hopper that would leave her a bequest only if they were still married and living together at the time of his death.
According to TMZ, Victoria is planning to take the matter to court, because even though they lived in separate houses at the time of his death, her house was on his property, which as per her is “living together”.
Hopper, who had not wanted his estranged wife to get the 25 percent estate and 250,000 dollars in life insurance money promised in the prenup, was not able to finalise the divorce he filed for in January, before his death on May 29.
His widow is now taking the matter to probate court, but his high-powered attorney, Joe Mannis, is also gearing up for the fight.
“She said she would challenge it, and I fully expect her to do so,” a news daily quoted Mannis as saying.
