Mumbai: Thespian Dilip Kumar laid the foundation stone of a 16-storied building for cine and television artistes in suburban Andheri.
Actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan too was present on the occasion yesterday.
To be called `CINTAA Towers`, the building will house the office of Cine and Television Artistes Association, and there will be separate floors for medical facilities, library, cafeteria, rehearsal hall, preview theatre and a separate
space for staging plays.
Dharmesh Tiwari, General Secretary of CINTAA, told reporters that Dilip Kumar announced a donation of Rs 15 lakh for the floor which will have medical centre.
Aamir too pledged contribution for the cause, Tiwari said.
He said the Association has been able to raise Rs 5 crore through `Star Jalwa`, an entertainment show organised by a private television channel last year where 112 artistes from television and films performed live.
The land, donated by the state government, is situated in Lokhandwala area.
Apart from Aamir, newly elected President Johnny Lever, co-opted chairman Mithun Chakraborty, CINTAA members Ashutosh Rana, Kiran Kumar, Raza Murad were present on the occasion.
