Dionne Warwick files for bankruptcy following £650k tax bill

Dionne Warwick has been forced to file for bankruptcy in New Jersey after being faced with paying a 650,000-dollar tax bill.

London: Multi-award winning singer Dionne Warwick has been forced to file for bankruptcy in New Jersey after being faced with paying a 650,000-dollar tax bill.
The 72-year-old singer’s publicist Kevin Sasaki issued a statement explaining that the personal bankruptcy filing was due to negligent and gross financial mismanagement 20 years ago, which was later confirmed by her attorney Daniel Stolz, the Daily Express reported. Stolz told Rolling Stone that Warwick had a business manager who mismanaged her affairs. He said that Warwick actually paid more than the face amount of the taxes but with all the interest and penalties that they add the number kept increasing and she became an innocent victim of terrible mismanagement. Sasaki revealed that Warwick, who is aunt to the deceased Whitney Houston, repeatedly tried to sort out the matter by offering repayment plans and proposals to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board for taxes owed but her plans were not accepted, resulting in escalating interest and penalties.
