Eddie Murphy’s bro debunks death hoax

Washington: Eddie Murphy’s brother has lashed out at rumours doing the rounds on the Internet that the comedian had passed away in a car accident.

The Global Associated News Website sent out a fake report that Murphy, 50, had perished in a single car crash in Queensland, Australia, while on vacation.

“My brother is fine. People who start these type of rumours are sick people,” Us magazine quoted Charlie Murphy as tweeting.

“It’s really astounding how low people will go for attention. Eddie Murphy is fine!” he said.

Though the Global Associated News Website appears legitimate at first glance, a closer look at the page reveals a small-print disclaimer denouncing the site and its contents as fake.

“This story is 100% fake! This is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes,” it said.
