Fawad`s debut will help Pakistani actors in Bollywood: Aamina
`Maat` actress Aamina Sheikh feels Fawad Khan`s debut opposite Sonam Kapoor in `Khoobsurat` will help other Pakistani actors get a foothold in Bollywood.
New Delhi: `Maat` actress Aamina Sheikh feels Fawad Khan`s debut opposite Sonam Kapoor in `Khoobsurat` will help other Pakistani actors get a foothold in Bollywood.
Fawad, one of the leading names in Pakistani showbiz, has won quite a fan following in India with his romantic-social drama `Zindagi Gulzar Hai`, which has been replaced by Aamina`s `Maat` on Zindagi channel here.
Aamina, 32, feels Fawad has made a smart move by making his Bollywood debut with an `A-list` banner. "He has done what he felt was right for him. The production house, the actors and the story, everything is great about his debut. I have seen the trailer and it looks good. His debut is good for him and for other Pakistani actors," Aamina said.
The actress, who has done both films and dramas in Pakistan, wants to expand her horizon by doing Indian movies.
"Everyone watches Indian films here. Indian cinema is immensely popular with Pakistani audience and I as an actor want to work globally. I would love to star in an Indian movie," she said.
The actress has some names on her wishlist with Ranbir Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan featuring prominently on it.
"Among the new crop of Bollywood actors, I feel Ranbir Kapoor is amazing. He is very talented and brings energy on screen. I would like to work with him. I have always liked Abhishek Bachchan too. In fact earlier in every interview, I used to say I want to work with him," she said.
Among the Bollywood actresses, Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut are her favourites. "Priyanka is one actress who has gone beyond the stereotypes and done some great work. I really admire her and after watching `Queen`, I felt Kangana was superb, she has emerged as a great performer," she said.
Aamina is thrilled with the response of Indian audience to her show `Maat`, which is an adaptation of an Urdu novel of the same name. "For me it is like revisiting the show and the praise I got here in Pakistan. The show is three-year-old and we all have moved on in our lives but with the love it has received in India, it is like I am back to that old time.
"I always wanted our dramas to be watched on TV like serials and sitcoms from other countries are watched here, so it is an amazing feeling and my show being seen in India feels special," she said.
