French honour for Aishwarya Rai on her birthday
New Delhi: One of the world’s most beautiful women has her birthday today and there could be no better way to celebrate it but by bestowing her with one of the most prestigious honours in due recognition for her achievements in the realm of cinema and the development of Indo-French cooperation in cinema, art and culture.
Apparently, the French government will be conferring upon the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chavalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) on November 01, 2012 by Francois Richier, Ambassador of France to India, on behalf of the French authorities.
On this special day, Ash’s entire family, including her parents, in-laws Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan and husband Abhishek will be present at the ceremony to double her joy.
“Since its Ash’s birthday, all the family members have kept themselves free for attending the ceremony. The honour has been evading her for the past three years, so everyone wants to make it very special for her this time around,” says an industry insider.
Before Ash, others who have been honoured with the award include Shah Rukh Khan, Nandita Das, Habib Tanvir and Hollywood big wigs like George Clooney and Meryl Streep.
“Ash is happy about the fact that she happens to be the youngest recipient. It’s going to be a very emotional moment for her,” revealed a source to a national daily.
