Mumbai: Verdict of perhaps the most macabre murder that rocked the nation 3 years back hasn’t gone down well with well wishers of the deceased. Friends and supporters of Neeraj Grover, the slain TV executive took to the streets to protest against the judgment asserting that the ‘killer’ still roams free.
Latest news confirms that the protestors were detained by Mumbai police for holding a march without obtaining rightful permissions. However, they were released after the formalities were duly complied with.
Acquaintances and film personalities voiced their opinion about the absolute and blatant mockery of justice in Neeraj Grover’s murder case. Veteran actor, Raza Murad said, “A young man is brutally murdered, and the killers have a free run…Kya ye jyadati nahi hai… kya ye democracy ka khoon nahi hai…( Is this not unjust…is this not the repression of democracy?)
Friends and supporters of Neeraj Grover were marching from Malad to Juhu when the police intercepted and detained them.
Maria was found guilty only of destruction of evidence, said the court. Hence, the court allowed her to walk free since she`s has already served three years in jail post her confession.
Meanwhile, a candlelight vigil for Neeraj Grover was held at Jantar Mantar in the capital, demanding justice for the TV executive who was brutally killed in Mumbai in 2008.
