George Clooney accepts German Prize for humanitarian efforts

London: Fresh from grabbing an Oscar for his film ‘Argo’, Hollywood star George Clooney added another award to his collection after picking up German Media Prize.
After the Oscars ceremony, ‘The Descendants’ star went straight to Germany to receive the award in honour of his humanitarian efforts and political activism at a ceremony in Baden-Baden, reported Contactmusic. Peace activist Clooney founded the advocacy organisation `Not On Our Watch` with fellow actors Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle to provide aid in places of international crises such as Darfur, Burma and Zimbabwe. Germany`s Federal Labour Minister Ursula von der Leyen praised Clooney for his courage. The 51-year old actor-producer joins the league of former US President Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela and Dalai Lama who have been honoured with the award previously. PTI
