Mumbai: The much public outburst by Karan Johar where he lashed out Priyanka Chopra and her friends was talked about for weeks in the industry as well as in the media. News of the fallout between the filmmaker and the actress who worked together in films like ‘Dostana’ and ‘Agneepath’- spread far and wide. But Karan extended the olive branch in May this year and invited PeeCee to his grand 40th birthday bash. The actress, who till then was being ‘ostracized’ by one of the most influential camps in the industry, was more than happy to put her bitterness behind and start afresh with KJo. Months later, Karan thinks that he overreacted to the entire episode. In a candid interview with a daily, Karan said, “I picked up the phone and reacted like a pressure cooker. Then I realised it wasn`t worth it. I called her and said I was turning 40. I have a great EQ (emotional quotient) with her. I`ve shared several warm moments with PeeCee. Since I am the older one, I decided to be mature." Priyanka’s friends had accused Karan of siding with Gauri Khan and giving PeeCee a royal ignore because of the actress’s growing proximity to Gauri’s husband, Shah Rukh Khan. While Karan had lashed out at Priyanka via Twitter, the actress on her part had maintained a stoic silence over the entire episode. Karan also stated that even though he had mend ties with Priyanka, he wasn’t too keen to extend the olive branch to either Ram Gopal Varma or Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Karan has had a long standing rivalry with two directors. "I can`t be friends with everyone," Karan said diplomatically and added, "I don`t need to stoop down and take potshots at him(RGV) anymore. He has such a great sense of humour that he takes potshots at himself." But he did go to the premiere of ‘Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi’ which has been produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. “I am good friends Farah Khan and Boman Irani - the film`s lead actors”, Karan justified. Enmity or no enmity, Karan is excited about his new film ‘Student of the Year’ which is all set for October release. "The film is a mild commentary on how being in the same field, it is important for friends to rise above the situation and keep the competition healthy. If you really care for that person, it`s simple. Problem arises when you are simply faking it," he explained.
