Mumbai: We knew it all along, but it is now official. Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan has been adjudged as the sexiest Asian man of the year 2012 by the ‘Eastern Eye Weekly’.
In a survey conducted by the weekly, Hrithik beat some ‘heavyweights’ and emerged as the winner of the 50-strong list.
According to a daily, the ‘Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara’ star won by the biggest ever margin in the history of the men`s list. Hrithik also toppled last year’s winner, Ranbir Kapoor who incidentally came sixth in this year’s list.
Hrithik, who came third last year, catapulted to the first spot this year mainly due to his role in the film, ‘Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara’. He was voted by fans all over the world via various social networking sites.
"He also shot for the hotly anticipated `Agneepath` remake, featured as a judge on hit TV show `Just Dance` and signed up for hotly anticipated superhero movie sequel `Krrish 2`," the weekly said.
Actor Shahid Kapoor was the surprise runner up, with Shah Rukh Khan claiming the third spot and Salman Khan the fourth position.
Asjad Nazir, Eastern Eye showbiz editor said, "Hrithik is a worthy winner and a leading man with global appeal. This year there was a massive gap between Hrithik and the rest of the competitors. He is the perfect ambassador for India and someone who could take on anyone in Hollywood in terms of looks, talent and likability.”
Paksitani singer and actor Ali Zafar came in the fifth spot while, Indian batsman Virat Kohli was at 18. Other names included Abhishek Bachchan ( 17), Prateik Babbar ( 20), John Abraham (7), Akshay Kumar (9), Arjun Rampal (11), actor Imran Khan (12), Saif Ali Khan (13), Atif Aslam (16), Riz Ahmed (21), Siddhartha Mallya (31), Mahendra Dhoni (33), Aamir Khan (35) and Zaheer Khan (39).
