Mumbai: After announcing that he would never work with Sanjay Dutt in any film, Ram Gopal Varma has now blamed Abhishek Bachchan for getting Dutt on board ‘Department’. The maverick filmmaker recently lashed out at Dutt and producer Dharam Oberoi for forcing him to change the screenplay of ‘Department’ in the middle and dropping actress Kangana Ranaut from the film. In a no holds barred interview to a tabloid, RGV said he did not blame Dutt for the debacle of ‘Department’ but disliked Dutt’s and Oberoi’s intervention in his process of filmmaking. “I am not blaming anyone except myself. The biggest mistake I made was to go to an actor as unprofessional and as unimaginably erratic as Dutt,” said Varma. Apparently, Varma also sent a message to Abhishek recently which said, “You brought this disease into my life by recommending Sanjay Dutt". Is that true? “No messages happened between Abhishek and me with regard to this but the truth is that when Abhishek was supposed to do Rana`s role, it was he who convinced me about Dutt against my better judgement. Later on, he couldn`t do the film and I was left with Dutt. So I definitely blame Abhishek for making me go through this though it was unintentional on his part,” said Ramu. ‘Department’ starred Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles. The film failed to make a mark at the Box Office and was panned by critics as well. While Dutt has sworn not to work with Varma ever in his life again, we wonder if Abhishek would also follow suit considering that he is also being blamed partially for the film’s debacle by the director.
