I`m not a piece of meat, says Lady Gaga

London: Lady Gaga has once again raised eyebrows by wearing an outfit made of raw meat to the MTV Video Music Awards.

The 24-year-old ‘Bad Romance’ singer wore a dress, boots, hat and purse made of animal flesh as she collected one of eight gongs on stage in Los Angeles.

The beef-clad pop queen linked her latest bizarre ensemble to a battle for civil rights - insisting: "I am not a piece of meat," reports the Sun.

She claimed it was tied in with a protest against the US military`s Don`t Ask, Don`t Tell policy, which stops gays admitting their sexuality.

Insisting she did not mean to upset vegetarians, she said: "If we don`t stand up for what we believe in and fight for our rights pretty soon, we`re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.

And I am not a piece of meat."
