Ian Somerhalder adopts rescued bitch; calls her “the perfect girl”

London: `Vampire Diaries` star Ian Somerhalder, who recently parted ways from co-star Nina Dobrev, rescued a bitch from the streets and has called her "the perfect girl".

The actor posted a photo of himself with his new pet on Instagram after she was rescued near the set of his show `The Vampire Diaries`, reported Digital Spy.

He tweeted to his fans that Nietzsche is the perfect girl, saying, "My new girl. Rescued from traffic near the Vampire Diaries stages just a few hours ago. So smart, so beautiful and charming - all a man could ask for in a girl. So happy together. Her name is Nietzsche."

Somerhalder split from his `Vampire Diaries` co-star Dobrev in May. In April, he revealed plans for his own rescue centre for abused animals.

"We`re building an animal sanctuary that`s also going to double as a sustainable agriculture farm and triple as a youth education camp.

"When a young person comes to that farm, they leave with a different understanding of compassion. If you have compassion for an animal, ultimately you will have compassion for people."
