Washington: American actor Jimmy Fallon has revealed that he was offered to host next year’s Academy awards but he turned it down.

The talk-show host made the revelation on the ‘Today’ show on Wednesday, adding that “it’s an honor to be asked by the Academy, but it’s not my year.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have recently elected a new president, Hawk Koch, whose responsibility is to help select the Oscar telecast producer(s), Fox News reported.

Traditionally, the producer(s) selected then choose the Oscar host.

But the academy has not announced its choice for producer(s), yet Fallon’s comments would suggest that the process of selecting a host is already under way.

The 85th Academy Awards will be presented on February 24, 2013.
