Los Angeles: Comedienne Joan Rivers' condition is serious and she continues to remain in a medically-induced coma after suffering cardiac and respiratory failure during throat surgery.
Her daughter, Melissa, updated on the condition of the 81-year-old artiste, who was getting her vocal cords checked at a clinic in New York when she started fighting for breath.
She was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital and placed in a coma as members of her family were alerted to her condition.
It was earlier said that Joan was unconscious but stable, reportedly.
"My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. "Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery," said Melissa in a statement.
