Melbourne: Canadian journalists at this year’s Cannes Film Festival are being asked to shell out large sums of money if they want to interview Hollywood heartthrobs Brad Pitt and Kristen Stewart.
Deadline Hollywood reported that Canadian journalists were sent out a menu of prices for Cannes film festival junkets for Pitt``s movie ‘Killing Them Softly’ and Stewart``s ‘On the Road’.
The film’s Canadian distributor, Alliance, stipulated that a 20-minute TV interview with Pitt would cost 3232 dollars and a one-on-one print interview with Stewart would cost 1293 dollars.
All print interviews with Pitt had to be done the rest of the cast of ‘Killing Them Softly’.
It is not unusual for celebs to charge for one-on-one interviews, indeed most movie stars have the cost of doing promotional work for the film built into to their contracts but this is the first time that a film distributor has published a price guide.
Alliance defending its decision to charges for the interviews, said that it couldn``t afford to fly out journalists to France for the Cannes Film Festival reported news.com.
“Of course it looks bad, but there``s a lot of pressure to keep as many costs down as possible,” Deadline quoted a source as saying.
