New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of visiting Varanasi—the city of temples, which also happens to be his Lok Sabha constituency, nominated nine people for 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyan'.

PM Modi, after offering his prayers at the famous Assi Ghat to river Ganga, he took up the 'Clean India' mission upon himself, and actively got involved in cleaning up the Ghat. He then, nominated nine people including Bollywood singer Kailash Kher and comedian Raju Srivastav.

Both Kailash Kher and Raju Srivastav have humbly accepted the challenge. Referring to his nomination by the PM, Kher took to Twitter and posted: “Yathaa Raja Tathaa Praja, @PMOIndia @narendramodi Thank you for nominating n showing faith in Me. for #SwachhBharatMission Proud to be part “

So happy 2 have namo's invitation, i think so alike about cleanliness ,this will strengthen my wish and willingness about this mission.

Comedian Raju Srivastav in an interview with a news agency added, “PM has attached by name with the Swachhta Abhiyan, I feel honoured. I will first participate cleanliness drive in UP then take it across the country.”

Other names which feature in the nominated list are: Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Jagadguru Rambhadracharya of Chitrakoot Handicapped University, BJP MLA Manoj Tiwari, Manu Sharma, cricketer Mohammad Kaif, Padmashree Prof Devi Prasad Dwivedi and cricketer Suresh Raina.
