Katy Perry buys Rusell Brand space trip for birthday
Los Angeles: Popstar Katy Perry has spent a whopping USD 200,000 on a ticket to space for fiancé Rusell Brand, as a gift for his upcoming 35th birthday.
The pair got engaged in a romantic ceremony in India on New Year`s Eve and the `California Girls` hitmaker wanted to surprise Brand with the novel gift.
Brand will have to undergo three days of intense training before he can go on his Virgin Galactic mission, which will see him travel 365,000 ft into the atmosphere.
Virgin Galactic representative Louella Faria said that Brand will sure have a good time in space, with a party thrown in specially for him, reported E! Online.
"It is true. We are very excited to have him onboard. Passengers will be able to view Earth around 800 miles in any direction from space. After it`s done they will pop champagne, give you astronaut wings and give you a party," said Faria.
Brand will also get to experience zero gravity during his trip.
The spaceship is currently still in the testing stages, but things are boding well for the vehicle following a successful inaugural test flight earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Perry, 25, who is set to marry Brand in October, has revealed the pair are planning to move to London following their nuptials.
