Mumbai: After making TV shows, Kavita Barjatya has decided to enter films and produce detective movie ‘Samrat And Co’. She says it would be a challenge to cater to the typical Rajshri`s family audiences.
To be directed by Kaushik Ghatak, ‘Samrat and Co’ will be produced by Kavita under her banner Rajshri Productions, known for making family dramas like ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun...!’ and ‘Vivah’.
"Today is a wonderful time for cinema... People are ready to accept different stories, different genres, different characters and a different treatment," Kavita said in a statement.
Kavita, granddaughter of late Tarachandji Barjatya and daughter of Kamal Kumar Barjatya and sister of ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ fame director Sooraj, feels that this is the right time to explore and tell different stories.
"Today, we can tell the story, which we wish to and not be caught up in boundaries of formulas… We have also seen that the uniqueness of the concept is the driving force in today`s films.
"When Kaushikji (Ghatak) narrated me a couple of subjects, this one really excited me. I have known and worked with Kaushikji since 2004. He has directed most of my TV shows and they were all landmarks. Hope to create the magic on big screen now. It`s going to be a challenge to cater to the typical Rajshri`s family audiences as well as today`s youth," she added.
Kavita launched the Rajshri Productions` television venture and ran it successfully for eight years and produced shows like ‘Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki’, ‘Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli...’, and ‘Do Hanson Ka Jodaa’.
