Know the new Censor Board Chief and its members

New Delhi: A  new team of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) members was formed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Monday.

The new list of members include George Baker, Mihir Bhuta, S. Ve Shekhar, Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, Ashok Pandit, Syed Abdul Bari, Jeevitha, Vanio Tripathi Tikoo, Ramesh Patange with Pahlaj Nihalani appointed as the new CBFC Chairperson after Leela Samson quit as the chief of the Censor Board

Let's know a little more about the new Chairperson as well as the other newly appointed members.

Pahlaj Nihalani is a well known film producer, who has produced films - 'Shola Aur Shabnam', 'Andaz', 'Aankhen' and 'Talaash: The Hunt Begins'. If one can recall, Nihalani was the one who had composed the song `Har Ghar Modi` during the May 2014 elections. 

Brother of filmmaker Govind Nihalani, Pahlaj in the recent past has praised the ruling NDA government and even went on to say that PM Modi is his hero and he is proud to be a BJP member.

Jeevitha Rajashekar is a popular Telugu actress and is the current BJP spokesperson of Telangana.

S. Ve Shekher, joined BJP in 2013 and is a well known Tamil Playwright and actor.

One can remember Chandra Prakash Dwivedi as a popular filmmaker who directed `Pinjar` based on a novel by Amrita Pritam. His 1991 television epic `Chanankya` saw him play the title role. `Mrityunjay` is among his other celebrated works.In the late 1990s, he had also served as the programming division head at Zee TV. His latest film include `Zed Plus` starring Adil Hussain.

Vani Tripathi Tikoo, who has acted in films like `Chalte Chalte` and `Dushman`is also the former national secretary of the BJP.

George Baker, an actor who has acted in Bengali and Assamese films joined BJP in the year 2014. He had earlier contested the Lok Sabha polls from Howrah in West Bengal on a BJP ticket but lost.

Dr. Syed Abdul Bari: He is the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Gujarat.

Ramesh Patange, the editor of a Marathi weekly magazine is associated with the RSS or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Ashoke Pandit, is a filmmaker, television director and social activist. He had been an Associate Director of TV shows like 'Nukkad', 'Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and 'Circus'. Apart from television, his documentary on the exile of Kashmiri pundits, `And The World Remained Silent` is one of his popular works.

Mihir Bhuta is a famous Gujarati writer. He was one of the principal writers behind the famous TV epic `Mahabharata`(2013). He has also contributed to Gujarati and Hindi theatre.
