L`Wren Scott`s business was in decent shape: spokesman

New York: A spokesman for Mick Jagger`s girlfriend L`Wren Scott on Friday hit back at suggestions the designer`s fashion business was in financial trouble before her suicide this week.
Scott`s label LS Fashion Ltd reported losses of $5.9 million as of December 31, 2012 according to accounts lodged with Britain`s Companies House in October obtained by AFP. However a spokesman for Scott, who was found dead at her Manhattan apartment on Monday, insisted the company`s prospects were good. "The figures quoted in the media regarding the financial status of LS Fashion Limited are not only highly misleading and inaccurate but also extremely hurtful and disrespectful to the memory of L`Wren Scott," he said. "Ms. Scott was considering a re-structure of her global business... Her business overall was only seven years old and although some areas of the business had not yet reached their potential, other parts of her business were proving successful." Pointing to the business`s "encouraging" long-term prospects, the spokesman noted that Scott`s work as a fashion consultant and stylist was recognized around the world, and that her collaborations included work on a recent Banana Republic collection. Scott left no suicide note to explain her decision to end her life, fuelling speculation that financial troubles may have played a role. Former New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn, who said Scott was a friend, said the stylist was about to close her business. Scott`s team members, however, said they "strongly object to some of the media`s intrusion into issues that are not only untrue and misleading but also distract from remembering and celebrating her life -- the life of a successful, talented, kind, generous and extraordinary woman." Scott, a 49-year-old former model, was known for body-hugging and figure-flattering dresses loved by celebrities from Hollywood stars to US First Lady Michelle Obama. Funeral details have not yet been released. Jagger`s Rolling Stones postponed their 14 On Fire tour of Australia and New Zealand that had been due to start this week. Jagger, meanwhile, was being comforted by his daughters in Los Angeles.
