Lady Gaga asked to help in freeway closure
Los Angeles: Pop diva Lady Gaga has been approached by officials to spread the word about a freeway closure.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has requested the `Born This Way` hitmaker to make the announcement on the virtual platform, about the proposed closure of California`s Interstate 405 for three days in July, reported Los Angeles Times.
The authorities are believed to have asked actors, musicians and athletes, who are popular on Twitter, to convey the message to their followers, to avoid the road due of fear of chaos.
"The whole idea is just to re-message the theme of avoiding the 405 area and that it`s going to be a mess if people don`t stay away.
"Twitter is a way to reach that whole demographic that could be oblivious to the 405 closure for that weekend", said Andy Neiman, an LAPD spokesman.
Besides, Gaga, 26, other stars who have been approached for the same purpose are Ashton Kutcher and his wife Demi Moore.
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has been asked to join the Twitter campaign, while former `CHiPs` star Erik Estrada has filmed a public service announcement about the closure.
