New Delhi: The `dhak-dhak` girl of Bollywood, Madhuri Dixit Nene turns 47-year-old today! The dancing diva started her illuminous career in mid 1980s with critically acclaimed film `Abodh` in 1984 but went on to become the golden girl only with `Tezaaab` in 1988.
The actress ruled throughout the 90s and early 2000 and was seen as an embodiment of flawless beauty with an incredibly beautiful smile that could really launch a thousand ships like the `Helen of Troy`. Madhuri broke a million hearts when she decided to walk down the aisle with Dr Shriram Madhav Nene in 1999.
However, it was not long when Mads (as she is fondly called) decided to return for her second innings in B-Town. Then came `Aaja Nachle` in 2007, which despite her efforts could not create the kind of magic that her other films had in the past. However, her dancing skills got rave reviews from the critics all over and Madhuri was once again welcomed in the industry with open arms.
The actress has since then donned many hats—from actress to mother—to now judging dance reality shows. The elegance personified Madhuri sizzles the screen every time she makes an appearance.
Such was her magnetic presence on screen that famous painter M F Husain had watched `Hum Aapke Hain Koun` around 67 times. He made paintings of her and even signed her for his directorial venture `Gaja Gamini`.
The terrific dancer that Madhuri is touted to be—she has even opened an online dance academy for her fans. It is quite known by everyone that she has been praised by none other than the Kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj for the art form. She even gave super hit dance numbers choreographed by veteran Saroj Khan.
The effervescent beauty gave remarkable performance in films such as `Lakhan, Parinda`, `Hum Aapke Hain Koun`, `Raja`, `Dil To Pagal Hai`, `Devdas` and many more. The latest being `Gulaab Gang` and `Dedh Ishqiya`. Madhuri`s portrayal of `Begum Para` in `Dedh Ishqiya` was well appreciated by her fans world over.
The actress is blessed with two sons Arin (11) and Raayan (9). We wish Madhuri a happy birthday!
