Madonna reduced to tears while talking about mum at ‘W.E’ premiere

Washington: Madonna broke down while talking about her mother at New York City’s Ziegfeld Theatre where she was present for the Forevermark-sponsored Cinema Society premiere of her film ‘W.E’, on Monday.

The movie, directed by Madonna, is a modern twist on the love story between Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII. It has also just received an Oscar nomination for costume design. “Finally, I would like to thank my mother,” People quoted her as saying. She then paused at length before choking back tears. “Because, really, this story is the story of a female’s, the journey of a female, soul. And my mother gave me life,” she said. She also talked about her upcoming halftime performance at the New England Patriots vs New York Giants Super Bowl on February 5.
