Mumbai: In an attempt to impress Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil, politician Dilip Sopal made a derogatory remark against actress Rani Mukerji.Earlier, at an event organised by the Mumbai Police, on Wednesday, the home minister shook hands with Rani Mukerji who was present in support of Mumbai police. Sopal was indiscreet and said that Rani Mukerji is `outdated` and it wouldn`t have made a difference if Patil had even shaken the hands with Kareena Kapoor, as his image was clean. He also added that his clean image is the reason Sharad Pawar likes Patil to be the face of their party in the state. The NCP member made the remark even when Patil himself was present at the second event. Poonam Mahajan of the Bharatiya Janata Party has condemned the NCP leader's outrageous remark. Mahajan believes that such remarks reflect the views of the party on women at large and displays their "outdated" attitude towards them. She also called NCP an "outdated" party.
