Mariah Carey spends millions on nursery for twins
London: Pop singer Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon have reportedly shelled out millions to convert an entire wing of their Beverly Hills home into a opulent nursery for their unborn twins, with gold trims and diamond encrusted iPods.
The 41-year-old singer who is currently pregnant with twins is leaving no stone unturned to keep the babies` surroundings and environment as luxurious as possible, a magazine reported.
"Mariah and Nick have converted a whole wing of their Beverly Hills house into a luxury nursery. She wanted 18-carat gold trim with ivory walls, soft furnishings and walk-in wardrobes full of Petit Tresor designer clothes. There`s a top-of-the-range sound system and each will have a diamond-encrusted iPods and a flatscreen TV that comes down from the ceiling," said a source close to the couple.
The couple have reportedly spent millions furnishing the nursery including a 24-carat gold and onyx sofa among other expensive items for their twins.
"Mariah and her designer Kenneth Bordewick are overseeing every detail. There`s a USD 1 million red-crushed velvet, 24-carat gold and onyx sofa used for Michael Jackson`s shows. It`s very `Alice in Wonderland` with swags on the back," the source said.
Carey who married Cannon in 2008 had reportedly miscarried shortly after marriage and the two are now extremely excited to be expecting their twins.
"It might seem over the top, but Mariah has waited a long time for her baby dreams to come true and she says the twins will be the most spoilt kids on the planet," the source added.
