Matt Damon backed to run for President of the United States office

London: Hollywood actor Matt Damon has been backed as a Democratic candidate instead of Barack Obama for next year’s Presidential elections.

His passionate critiques of the President’s failings on everything from foreign policy to education have impressed activists.

They also think that, like Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 40-year-old can make the leap from Hollywood to high office.

Left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore first made the suggestion that Damon should run for president.

“I think that Matt Damon has been very courageous in not caring about who he offends by saying the things that need to be said here, and if you want to win, the Republicans have certainly shown the way - that when you run someone who is popular, you win,” the Daily Mail quoted Moore as saying.
