Matt Damon backs 'bestie' Ben Affleck for being misunderstood

Washington D.C.: Matt Damon, who has always stood up for his best friend Ben Affleck, recently said that there is nobody who is more misunderstood in the industry than the latter.

The 44-year-old actor said the media's misperception about the 'Gone Girl' star started early in his career especially after his relationship with Jennifer Lopez, says report.

'The Martian' star added that it was really painful for him to see his childhood friend in such a situation where he was just considered Lopez's boyfriend.

Damon further said that through his work, Affleck has climbed from the bottom of the mountain all the way back up to the top.
